U.S. Flag Twin Screw Tug “Pathfinder”

We have been authorized by Crowley Marine Services, Inc., Seattle, WA to offer the U.S. flag, twin screw, Sea Swift Class tug “PATHFINDER” for sale on a strictly “as is, where is” basis. “Pathfinder” is an ocean-going tug lying in damaged condition in fresh water at Lake Union Drydock in Seattle, Washington.

    • U.S. flag.  G / NRT 194 / 132 (Domestic);  ITC - 538 G / 161 N. Official No. 524616 / IMO No. 7028996.
    • Built 1970 by McDermott Shipyard; Morgan City, LA, USA.
    • ABS + A1 Towing Service + AMS. Unrestricted Service (Laid Up Status). ABS Annual for Hull and Machinery, as well as Drydocking, and Special Survey for Hull and Machinery #8 are overdue as of April 30, 2010.

    • Markey TDSDW 36C double drum, diesel-driven towing winch w/ capacity for abt. 2,200’ x 2.25” and 2,600’
      2-1/8” wire. No wire is currently fitted on the towing winch drum. Markey WYW-20 windlass forward. Hydraulic tow pins aft. 
    • 2 x EMD 16-645 E5’s with total 5,750BHP at 900RPM. Falk Model MRVF3048 4.345:1 reduction gears. Fixed pitch 5-blade stainless steel 120” dia. x 88” pitch open propellers on 34.5’ x 12.5” dia. stainless steel shafts. Triple rudders. Keel cooled. Speed abt. 12kn free running.  Bollard pull abt. 135,000 lbs. ahead, and 95,000 lbs. astern.
    • 3 - 60kW / CATD3304 diesel powered AC generators.   
    • External telescoping, electronically controlled 3,500 gpm @ 180psi FiFi monitor @ 70’ above waterline. Foam system can generate abt. 2,500 gpm of foam. Monitor can propel water or foam about 200’.

    Vessel last worked as a tanker escort in Valdez, Alaska prior to grounding in December 2009. Tug was towed to Seattle and dry-docked in March 2010. Tug was then placed in lay-up at Lake Union Drydock in damaged condition.
